Welcome to the Kappa Alpha chapter of Kappa Delta. We hope our website gives you a glimpse inside our tight circle of sisterhood. Kappa Delta sisters pride themselves on excellence in academics, leadership, community involvement, and social activities; but most importantly we love and support each other through thick and thin and form bonds that last a lifetime.
As a part of the Florida State University Greek community Kappa Delta sisters also form meaningful relationships with our fellow Panhellenic women and Fraternity Men. Our community is strong and unified, built on common values and friendship. Together we give back to FSU and the Tallahassee community and create future leaders.
Kappa Delta was the first sorority chartered at Florida State University on November 4, 1904. In the fall of 2004, we celebrated our 100th year anniversary. Kappa Delta Sorority was founded in 1897 at Farmville University in Longwood Virginia and today has more than 230,000 sisters worldwide.
Letter from the President
The ladies of Kappa Delta Sorority invite you to take a closer look into our sisterhood here at Florida State University. Kappa Delta is committed to inspiring each and every member to lead a values-based life. The principles and ideals upon which our organization was founded are ingrained in everything we do as a sorority, through our members, chapter programs and initiatives. The sisters of Kappa Delta pride ourselves on excellence in academics, leadership, community involvement and social activities; but most importantly we treasure the lifetime friendships we create and our unfailing love for one another.
Over 100 years ago four young women set out to create something more than a club. Founded on October 23rd, 1897, at the State Female Normal School in Farmville, Virginia, Kappa Delta’s traditions and sisterhood have endured and prospered ever since. Locally, Kappa Delta was the first sorority to be chartered at Florida State University on November 4, 1904. With our deep southern roots firmly planted, Kappa Delta is fortunate enough to have strong Alumni support from the Tallahassee community.
Committed to service Kappa Delta’s four philanthropies include Girls Scouts of the USA, Prevent Child Abuse America, Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU, and Orthopedic Research Awards. Our values can be described by the acronym “Live GREAT!”, Growth through lifetime learning, Responsibility for your own integrity and ethical actions, Engagement in social and civic interest, Altruistic service to others, and Truth and loyalty to each other. Each member is encouraged to “Live GREAT!” through every aspect of life. The goals we set for ourselves and for each other prepare the sisters of Kappa Delta to enter the professional world as young women. Each day we work to create a greater and better Kappa Delta as we strive for that which is Honorable, Beautiful and Highest.
Love in AOT,
President of Kappa Delta Sorority
